BEWARE: Practicing This Will Change You

Last week we practiced a Breathing Prayer for the constant awareness of Jesus all day long:

~Breathe In:

(Jesus) I’m with You

~Breathe Out:

(Jesus) You’re with Me

Friends, putting into practice what Jesus has invited us into is working. It’s so much fun to hear your stories!

This week, we are walking into our identity. Who we are in Jesus’ eyes vs the names we’ve been given or have given ourselves. I’ve heard and read these “Who I am in Jesus” verses all my life. In certain seasons they have resonated completely and in others I honestly have felt indifferent about them. That’s probably because I wasn’t wanting to “go there” emotionally or it wasn’t making me “feel” anything.

My friend Annie Downs (author, speaker, amazing girl) rocked my world with this line last week. “Feelings are great to have in your car with you, but they are a terrible driver.” Our feelings are so helpful in so many ways but when they are driving our decisions and our identities, then we are in trouble. This is the TRUTH about YOU and me today:

Who I Am In Jesus

I am accepted…

John 1:12 I am God’s child.

Colossians 1:13-14 I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins.

Hebrews 4:14-16 I have direct access to the throne of grace through Jesus.

I am loved…

Romans 8:31-39 I am fully forgiven and cannot be separated from the love of God.

Philippians 1:6 I am confident that God will complete the good work He started in me.

2 Timothy 1:7 I have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

I am significant…

1 Corinthians 3:16 I am God’s temple.

Ephesians 3:12 I may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Philippians 4:13 I can do (get through) all things through Jesus, who strengthens me.

This week we are going to practice Jesus’ invitation to simply be aware of who we really are according to Jesus! What is a thing you could wear or use as a reminder, all day long, to practice the presence of Jesus? Ie. write on yourself, bracelet, glasses, ring on different finger, etc…

10,000 MINUTES Practice:

  • PRACTICE: Which one of these “Who I Am In Jesus” statements are you going to practice this week? Practice living as though it’s true in your 10,000 minutes.

BEWARE: practicing this will change you!

Bonus: Use these questions for your own personal inventory and/or with a group of friends…

Questions For This Week:

-Which one of these “I am…” statements is easy for you to believe and live as though it’s true?

-Which one of these is hardest to believe?

-Which of these statements will you take with you and practice living it out this week? Why?

-How different would your week be if you lived as though this truth about your identity in Jesus was true?

-Think through this past week. What would have changed if you had lived out these truths?
