Anyone Want To Practice God’s Will For Your Life?

If you DON’T want to know God’s will for your life, please stop reading…

Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16

With a Re-Joying posture and a constant and unceasing alignment with the heart of God, we are invited to give thanks in ALL circumstances. Anyone want to throw in the towel on this one? There are a million reasons I can give to why this is a beautiful practice, but when my world is rattling, I’m not so fast with this one. I should rephrase that. When my kingdom, where I am the king, is threatened, I fight back with worry, control, fear, power, etc...anything but surrender.

Friends who want to live out “God’s Will” for your life, the last part of this invitation is THANK-FULLNESS!

I had a pretty intense conversation with a friend this past week. He is in a BAD way right now. Like, questions of “why am I even here and alive.” I wish I had some magic answer or power to change his world.

I often use the idea of being drunk with emotion, worry, fear, sin, etc. It’s when we are not sober enough to see reality. Our vision is blurry and our judgement is impaired. I can’t help change my friends surroundings, but I can nudge him towards sobriety.

In some of my darkest moments, I have been encouraged to begin with a thankful heart no matter the circumstance. IT WORKS I tell you! Whether you are in deep depression today or humming along with the birds out your window, this week, practice writing a list of things you’re thankful for.

All day long, look for things to be grateful for and then write them down! Try 20 each day! I DARE YOU…:)

(Hint: Next week is gonna rock…)
