A Nagging License

We are week 4 in our daily practice of the Will of God for us. Who doesn’t want to know and live out God’s Will?

Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16

It’s story time with Jesus…

Once upon a time there was a Judge who presided over a certain town. He was certainly not known for justice, which is kinda the point of a judge.

There was a woman who seemingly didn’t care about the judge's lack of character, because she was in such great need. She repeatedly came to the judge asking for justice with a dispute against her enemy. Over and over she came back pleading for help, but the judge repeatedly ignored her...until he was worn down by her. He said to himself, “I don’t care about God or care about people but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!”

Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?  I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” Luke 18:1-8 (TPV Timmons’s paraphrase version)

Jesus told his disciples this story to show that they should always pray and never give up. Remember this is not to earn anything/favor from God, but to align our will with His.

What is one thing that you’d want an answer for from God? What would it look like for us to take one request day and night to God. Asking Him like this nagging woman for justice. Asking Him with persistence for a certain thing to happen ultimately leaving the OUTCOME up to Him.

This is actually an invitation from Jesus for us to nag Him about things. As I write my “X” on my wrist this week, I have one thing that I am going plead for. What’s yours?
