Walk WITH Power This Year
Ok friends, here we go! I have literally no idea what this next year is going to look like. Do you? I have no major tours scheduled, I’m writing a ton of songs for my next record, creating content, encouragement and community with about 40,000 of you (and loving it!), working on the 10,000 MINUTES podcast, loving my Journey Church community here in Franklin, TN, dadding and husbanding, and yet I have no clue how all of this will shake out.
We know the things that are right in front of us, but what happens if/when they’re taken away or what happens if they actually work out how we hope they will? How much energy do you want to spend this next year trying to control things that we cannot and should not control? What’s our role this next year, and what’s Jesus’ role
Last year, I was struck by the notion of walking WITH Jesus and not working FOR Him. Joining Him in what He was already doing. This year will be a continuation of that, but hopefully we will see His handy work clearer and join Him quicker in it.
Ok this is gonna sound a little wacko, but just go with me on this:
This year, wherever you are, BE THERE WITH Jesus.
Yup, there it is. It’s hard to get much more profound and practical than that.
In 365 days, what will you know then that you don’t know now? I guarantee that most of those learnings will come from some kind of pain, failure, struggle, loss, tension and the redemption there in. No matter the circumstances, who and what are the constants in your journey? The way I see it, it’s just you and Jesus. That kinda blows my mind. We can’t control other people or circumstances (as hard as we try), but we can control what we are practicing and who we are practicing it WITH.
This year, wherever you are, BE THERE WITH Jesus. What if you could walk through this next year with these bubbling out of your soul:
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Goodness, Self Control, Generosity…
These are the by product of a life walking in step WITH Jesus.
Jesus, as we stay attached to you this next year and just for the rest of this day, open our eyes to see where you are stirring in and around us. Thank you for your nearness no matter what!
