Is It Worrying About Tomorrow Or Planning?
What’s the difference between worrying about tomorrow and planning for tomorrow? Well, Biblically, I can back both sides. Proverbs talks about the wise man that plans, and the foolish man who doesn’t. Or when Jesus talks about the Kingdom of God and shares a story of the man who starts building his house but doesn’t have enough money to finish it because of bad planning. Or a man plans his steps but the Lord guides his way...
Ok so when does planning become dangerous? If we’re supposed to just trust Jesus with everything, then shouldn’t we not plan beyond tomorrow?
The issue comes with our attempted management of the outcome. Worry happens when we aren’t resolved to the sovereign hand of God. If He is in charge of our outcomes then we don’t have to worry anymore. We can plan and plan, but when we leave the outcome of the relationship, circumstance, job interview, cancer diagnosis, etc up to the King of the Kingdom, then we cannot lose….We may grieve but we never lose.
A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Jesus Lead ON!
