Gratitude Unlocks Stuff...

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life” Melody Beattie.

When I read this quote, the word fullness caught my eye. These past few years, I’ve been enamored by this idea that the fullness of God is totally accessible and available to us through Jesus Colossians 2:9-23. I mean, what if that’s true? If it is, I want it.

My dad has always said that one of the keys into the heart of God is thankfulness. So when I see “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life”, I get really excited. Simply practicing thankfulness puts us in a vulnerable position. When we say thank you for something, our hearts are soft, open, and ready to receive. Thank you is one of the most powerful displays of humility (humility- a right view of oneself). Thank you can break us out of tunnel vision, if even for a moment. Gratitude is the beginning of true praise.

So if “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life”, and Jesus is the (Way, Truth, and) Life, then practicing a heart of gratitude unlocks the fullness of God In Us! In my current understanding, the fullness of God can be experienced through the fruit of His Spirit in us: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self Control, Generosity, etc…

This week I am going to practice a heart of gratitude in all things good, bad, fun, hard, and confusing. I want to focus on LOVE. How will my practice of thank you’s to God and others, and even to myself as weird as that sounds, unlock a deeper love in and through me? Think about it.

10000 MINUTES Practice:

Practice Gratitude. Practice a heart bent towards finding a thank you in all things!

Then at the end of the day, look for how that unlocked a deeper Love in and through you!
