Prayer Is Paying Attention

This week we are practicing praying for others all throughout our day. Your co-worker, neighbor, parents, kids, enemies, spouse,...

I referenced this poem a few months ago from one of my favorite poets, Mary Oliver.

“Praying

It doesn’t have to be

the blue iris, it could be

weeds in a vacant lot, or a few

small stones; just

pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try

to make them elaborate, this isn’t

a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which

another voice may speak.”

Mary Oliver,

Prayer is just the vehicle. And as my dad has said, “Prayer doesn’t change things...Jesus Does!” Be simple. Pay attention to what Jesus is doing all around you and join Him through praying for others!
