Gratitude Turns What We Have Into Enough
“Gratitude turns what we have into enough” says the sign on the wall of the room I woke up in this morning. What a great invitation to wake up to. Because in a land of Never-Enough, this idea of gratitude and enoughness seems so foreign. Think about it. What in your life do you really want?
Example: my car.
For traveling with the band i would really love something that we could all fit in including gear etc. Well we don’t have the money for that right now, but what do i do? I go bonkers wasting all of my time on the worldwide intranets and at dealerships trying to figure out a way to spend money that i don’t have. Yes it would really be nice to have a pimped out Sprinter Van that gets 24 mpg, leather captains chairs, grey or black, fits everyone and everything, and comfortably...oops did it just nerd out on you? This is not necessarily a bad thing for me to pray for, but what gets lost in my dreaming and scheming is gratitude for what i have now.
I go so crazy trying to plan the future that I forget the here and now. I forget that Jesus is enough for me whether I act like it or not. He promises to provide my needs, not always my wants. I have a car that runs, and so far we have managed to get by. I am grateful for what i have today. I’m grateful to be alive today! I woke up again! WOW I already feel better…
What are you grateful for today? Write these things down. It just feels good! Then ask God for the things that you’re wanting and ask Him to change and align your wanter!
